Are open models good enough compared with ChatGPT or Claude?
For drafting, summarizing, document Q&A, extraction and most coding, current open models are close to cloud models, and they get better every few months. For the hardest reasoning, keep a cloud model for non-sensitive work. The gateway can route between the two under rules you set.
What does "runs offline" mean exactly?
Chat, documents, agents and the API work with the internet cable unplugged. Updates arrive as signed bundles that you can install from a USB drive. Web search is an optional module and stays off unless you enable it.
How many people can really use one machine?
It depends on how many use it at the same moment, not on head count. A Labs Studio comfortably serves 8–16 people using it at the same time on a 27B-class model. Registered accounts are unlimited. The sizing calculator above gives a first estimate; the benchmark report gives the real number.
What do I need on site?
A standard outlet (One and Studio: 15 A / 120 V or any 220 V circuit; Pro: 20 A), a network port, and a spot that isn't a closed closet. Setup is done remotely, followed by your included live onboarding session.
What happens if it breaks?
Essential care (included for year one) provides a response within one business day, remote diagnosis and parts shipped on warranty. Care+ provides a response within four business hours, next-business-day parts, a loaner for Studio and Pro, and quarterly model updates. Managed operations response times are agreed in your service quote.
Can we fine-tune it on our own work?
Yes. With your permission, the platform can collect approved conversations as training examples and run a fine-tune overnight. Self-serve fine-tuning is coming soon; today we run it for you as a service.
Where do you ship?
We ship within the United States only.
